What is Long Night of LiteratureS?

Europe’s extraordinary diversity of languages mirrors that of India ; both are rich mosaics of voices, traditions, and stories. The Long Night of LiteratureS is a European literary festival which celebrates the encounter of cultures beyond language barriers. The festival provides a unique opportunity to Indian audiences to discover European contemporary literature, appreciate the music and texture of different European languages and to engage with avant-garde literary perspectives shaping today’s Europe.

Organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) across New Delhi, Kolkata and Varanasi, the festival promotes dialogue between cultures through the shared experience of literature.

Each author brings a distinct voice, language, and vision, together forming a kaleidoscope of contemporary Europe in all its diversity and creative energy.
